Coastal Studies Center Archaeology Project

Principal Investigator: Anne Henshaw

Brewer Cove

Objectives:

The primary objective of this project is to reconstruct the cultural history of pre-colonial habitation at the CSC. The fieldwork proposed for this summer builds on the results of the 2001 and 2002 field seasons and will focus on continued limited test excavations at the Brewer Cove shell midden complex (MHPC15.157). Excavations at this site have produced multiple types of archaeological data (faunal, flora, artifacts, etc.) and provide hands-on teaching material for Environmental Archaeology, a class taught in the Sociology and Anthropology department.
